In Loving Memory

Jim Schaefer

Friends of Jim Schaefer, a Thomson Reuters employee in Eagan for many years before he died in February 2015, are establishing a University of St. Thomas scholarship in Jim’s memory to provide financial assistance to students whose parents die while the students are enrolled at the school.

Jim’s sons, Dan and Tony, were a junior and a freshman when Jim died. At the time, Jim was a legal solutions and quality specialist at Thomson Reuters. Dan graduated in 2016 and works at Super Valu, and Tony is a senior chemistry major who intends to go to graduate school next year.

Jim was an avid lifelong learner, with two degrees from St. Thomas (Bachelor of Arts in German and Political Science and Master’s of International Management) and a law degree from William Mitchell. At the time of his death, Jim was pursuing a Master of Science in Software Management degree at St. Thomas. He was an active alumnus, having served on the St. Thomas Alumni Association board from 1997 to 2003.

Please consider a gift to the Jim Schaefer Memorial Fund. Thomson Reuters will match individual gifts up to $1,000. You can make a gift using the form on this page.
