Center for Engineering Education

The Center for Engineering Education has a mission to bring STEM education to classrooms everywhere by serving current and future P-12 educators who want hands-on experience in engineering and STEM education. Through a rigorous introduction to engineering content with emphasis placed on how to apply material in P-12 classrooms, we arm educators with the content, insight, and mindset to trigger authentic curiosity for STEM in students.

Civil Engineering

At the School of Engineering, we're creating the builders of our future -- literally. We're the only private school in Minnesota -- and one of only two private schools in the Midwest -- that offers an undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering. With our values-based, multi-disciplinary approach at the center of the curriculum, Civil Engineering is one of the fastest growing programs at St. Thomas. With your support, we can continue to offer students the hands-on experience that will fuel innovation in industries locally and beyond.

Peace Engineering Program

Our one-of-a-kind Peace Engineering program links engineering with Justice and Peace studies to show students how to build a better future. Peace Engineers solve societal problems by building agricultural tools to fight poverty and hunger, managing resources to conserve water and energy, and protecting areas vulnerable to conflict or natural disaster.

Meet the Dean

As dean, Weinkauf's mission is to bring together interdisciplinary and applied engineering education, two traits that define the St. Thomas School of Engineering. With an affable demeanor, more than two decades of academic leadership, and industry expertise as a chemical engineer, Weinkauf truly embodies the 21st-century engineer who can not only solve problems but also communicate solutions effectively. As the leader of the School of Engineering, Weinkauf is putting students first and educating the next generation of great engineers.

Reshaping the Student Experience

The Schoenecker Center will transform the university’s presence along Summit Avenue, where it will adjoin O’Shaughnessy Science Hall. Designed with input from corporate industry partners, the center will foster collaboration among students who otherwise may not have worked together in traditional classroom settings.
