Paul and Sarah Karon Veterans Resource Center

Your generosity uplifts those who have served.

Members of Air Force ROTC Detachment 410 participate in the closing ceremony of a 24 hour vigil honoring military service members missing in action or prisoners of war on the lower quad in St. Paul on November 11,2024.

At St. Thomas, we are proud to support the men and women who sacrifice greatly so that all students can pursue their dreams in peace. The Veterans Resource Center offers resources to military members and military-affiliated students that help them thrive in their academic and professional careers, from their first day on campus to years after graduation.

The Paul and Sarah Karon Veterans Resource Center is a one-stop shop where veteran students can find information about resources available to them, receive academic, personal and career counseling, and meet with other veterans. St. Thomas is proud to show this commitment to the 200+ Tommies who are veterans, as the university aims to become the most military-friendly university in the Upper Midwest. St. Thomas is a proud participant in the Yellow Ribbon Program.

Why Your Gift Matters

When you support the Veterans Resource Center, you help veteran students earn their degrees after years of serving their country. Many of these students also work and support their families while attending St. Thomas, and support for Veterans Services provides scholarships, services and programs for veteran students.

Areas of Need

Emergency Loans

Sometimes veteran students have urgent temporary need for financial support because of a late VA check or other unforeseen circumstances. The effort to provide emergency loans has saved more than one dire situation, helping us to retain our students and has been very much appreciated by recipients.

Gap Scholarships

The GI Bill and other VA benefits can leave a gap in funding to make attending St. Thomas a reality for some veteran students. Special "gap scholarships" for this situation are available on a limited basis, and we are working toward gaining more capacity for this assistance.
