Music Travel Fund

Your gift supports unforgettable travel opportunities.

Choir students performing in the Aquinas Chapel during the Claritas Event, “Sites that Inspire” on December 6, 2023 in St. Paul.

Music travel and the international tour are cherished traditions and an expectation of participating in an instrumental or choral ensemble at St. Thomas.

These trips elevate the professional level of the student-musicians and create opportunities to expand the presence of the university to new and exciting regions. Through these tours, student-musicians:

  • Deepen their knowledge and understanding of different cultures and historical spaces
  • Build group culture and interconnectedness that bond the ensemble beyond the tour year
  • Learn from and perform with renowned international artists

Affordability: the #1 Barrier to Participation

Historically, the music department has used significant resources to reduce the overall cost of travel for student-musicians. Yet, each year about one-third of student-musicians have had unmet need, limiting their ability to travel. It is projected that this number will jump to more than half in 2025 and beyond.

The Power of Music Travel

There is no way to put everything I felt and did on this choir trip into just a few words. This trip has opened my eyes to many different perspectives of the world, from the big picture all the way down to just a person, and how something like performing can affect people.
