Class Year Endowed Scholarships (1948-2015)

Each class year at St. Thomas is special, and the memories class members make are as unique as the skills, interests and abilities they bring to campus. For two decades, class year scholarships have been established at key milestone reunions to provide critical resources to St. Thomas' financial aid funds.

How Endowment Scholarships Work

Every year, alumni make investments into their class's endowed scholarship. These recurring gifts help grow the principal, which, in combination with earnings from university contributions, creates more funds for students to access each year the scholarship continues.

Thanks to strategic reinvestment, the cumulative value of all class endowments is nearly $10 million.* Each year, 4-5% of the investment earnings from each endowment are awarded to students, and the remainder is reinvested to continue growing the principal. Thanks to annual support form alumni and steady positive returns, we've awarded over 1,176 scholarships totalling nearly $3.5 million!*

Why Your Gift Matters

Support of these scholarships has a significant impact on the lives of our students and helps provides access to a St. Thomas education. When you make a gift to an endowed scholarship, your generosity goes further. Endowed scholarship funds are invested, and the earnings on that principal investment have the potential to provide financial aid to students for years to come.

By giving to your Class Year Fund, you honor the legacy of your classmates and the unique mark each of you left on campus during your time as a Tommie — but most importantly, you help current and incoming students access the same transformative St. Thomas education that set you on your path.
